Straight from “Off-Broadway,” Berwyn’s Footlighters Theater Presents the hysterical, puppet-filled musical, AVENUE Q

Footlighters Theater opens its 91st season by presenting the ever-popular, puppet-filled musical, Avenue Q!

Just finishing an incredible 16-year run, Avenue Q is a musical comedy featuring human actors and puppets (designed & built by original cast member, Rick Lyon).  The show’s format is a parody of PBS’s beloved “Sesame Street.”  The principal cast includes four puppeteers and three human actors. The puppets (Princeton, Kate, Nicky and others) are played by unconcealed puppeteers alongside costumed human actors.

With music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and book by Jeff Whitty, the show won Best Musical, Book, and Score at the 2004 Tony Awards. Avenue Q has continuously received rave reviews for its approach to topics like racism, homosexuality and Internet pornography.

Avenue Q would go on to play over 2,500 performances, ranking 24th on the list of longest running shows in Broadway history, before moving “off-Broadway” to New World Stages. Its final off-Broadway performance was on the evening of May 26, 2019, and its two creators were in the audience along with many former cast members.

Avenue Q opens at Footlighters on Friday October 18th and runs for three weekends.  Friday and Saturday evening productions begin at 8:00pm; Sunday matinees at 2:00pm.  Tickets for Avenue Q are available now at for all shows; just $18 for adults.  The production is not recommended for children.  Group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more. Tickets may be purchased in advance (recommended to avoid disappointment) at or at the door on the day of the show.  Doors typically open 30 minutes prior to show time.

Footlighters Theater is located at 58 Main Avenue in Berwyn, PA 19312, just two blocks from the Berwyn Train station (Paoli/Thorndale line). On-street parking is available and patrons also have access to the church parking lot across the street.
