Philly pre-teens write and record their own jam

Last month, 25 Philadelphia kids ages 8-12 worked together to write their very own song at Mighty Writers West’s free “Songwriting & Poetry Camp.” Then some of them went into a real recording studio to record it, with professional production from Slim (Justice Productions).

Local education nonprofit Mighty Writers teaches writing through the topics that already interest kids, and no topic interests these kids more than music. Songwriting requires them to think clearly and write with clarity – the Mighty Writers mission.

The organization will hold another free class to teach preteens writing through music, “Mighty Music 101,” this fall. Please visit https://mightywriters.org/ for more information, or e-mail them at hello@mightywriters.org, or call 267-239-0899.
