Event Review: Piazza Pod Park

Philly has just found its new summer hot spot! Tired of spending every first date at Spruce Street Harbor Park? Spruce up that summer routine by visiting Piazza Pod Park, which had its public grand opening June 8.

This “Northern Liberties Oasis,” just a hop, skip, and jump off of the Spring Garden stop on the MFL, is the perfect place for the park patron who enjoys a crisp beer, a solid Instagram photo opp, and a place where you can relax and distract the kids all at once! Piazza Pod Park may also be the perfect night out for someone who only wants to spend $14.00 on cocktails for the night (they make them nice and strong at Piazza Pod Park and you will certainly feel something after two!)

Piazza Pod Park has a San Diego park feel meets “Living Mortgage Free” on Netflix where somehow everything is made of shipping containers. While not incredibly large, its smart placement of tables, lounging areas, and child-friendly activities makes it feel spacious. Its center piece holds the name BeBot, a 33-foot tall friend directly transported here from the Burning Man Festival.

BeBot makes a great background feature to any photograph, as you can see here:

My partner and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Piazza Pod Park!

Along with a diverse selection of beers and cocktails on draft, Piazza Pod Park has a wide variety of dining options for their patrons. Whether you’re in the mood for empanadas from Empanada Box, Dim Sum from Dim Sum House’s Lil Sum Sum, bagels from Spread Bagelry, tacos from Tiki Tacos, or a fresh baked good from Essen Bakery–you will want for nothing at this park. Each restaurants offers delicious options for your park snack (though kind of pricey.) My favorite was the French Toast Bites from Lokal Artisan Foods. It was incredibly fresh and had all of the toppings you could possibly want.

Something particularly special about Piazza Pod Park was their Nursing Pods for breastfeeding and diaper changing. They were very clean and very quiet, a perfect place for new mothers! While I wouldn’t say their offerings for children’s entertainment is extensive, if you pack some of your baby’s favorites–you’re in for a great time! Piazza Pod Park also happily welcomes dogs for my dog mamas out there.

So, do you go? Sure, but maybe pack a snack or two so you don’t spend all your money in one place. Grab a friend, your dog, and your camera and you’re bound to have a good time. I certainly did.

Piazza Pod Park is the perfect place to watch a beautiful sunset.
