The gym at Springfield High School is filled with homemade decorations. Principal Varney welcomes the class of 1958 to their “Super Senior Prom” and introduces the night’s last-minute-replacement entertainment, The Marvelous Wonderettes. Four female classmates take the stage, decked out in their 1950’s finest, preparing to entertain their classmates (the audience) in four-part harmony. Thus begins the fun-filled, toe-tapping, sing-along production at Footlighters Theater opening on Friday, January 18th for four weekends of 1950’s musical joy. As the evening hums along with its share of high school drama and nostalgic fun, the long list of memorable songs plays out including such hits as “Lollipop”, “Dream Lover”, “Stupid Cupid”, “It’s My Party”, “It’s In His Kiss”and “With This Ring.”
Director Alicia Brisbois and Producer Danielle Lachall have brought together talented Springfield High songleaders Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy (also known as Alessandra Fanelli, Kristen Matsen, Ellen Cohn & Jen Hallman) to fast forward these classic tunes sixty years into the future for your enjoyment. Choreographer Katie Brown has pulled it all together with entertaining, era-appropriate “shoop-shoop”-ing dance moves.
